Northeastern University London Applies for University Title

NU London | July 6, 2021

We are delighted to announce that Northeastern University London has applied to the Office for Students (OfS) – the regulator for higher education in England and Wales – for University Title.

This is the natural next stage having been granted our own Taught Degree Awarding Powers (TDAP) last year. As part of the process for University Title, the Office for Students (OfS) is consulting on the proposed new name.

As part of Northeastern University’s Global Network, the name we have applied for is “Northeastern University – London”, which is set to replace the name Northeastern University London at Northeastern Ltd as the registered name of the institution.

In the event that the regulator approves our application, the University intends to continue to use the Northeastern University London brand for its undergraduate programmes for the foreseeable future.

This is a very exciting time for our prospective students, as it means that, while continuing to benefit from the exceptional educational experience for which Northeastern University London is renowned, you will benefit from the international reputation of the Northeastern University name when applying for graduate jobs. Moreover, the name will enable the University to expand its reputation in London and beyond.

In addition, this will allow us – in the longer term – to introduce a wider range of mobility opportunities to allow our students to both study and work abroad as part of their degree programmes.
