New Clinical Trials Specialist Apprenticeship Under Development

NU London | March 14, 2024

Development of a new Clinical Trials Specialist degree apprenticeship is underway at Northeastern University London. With excellent links across healthcare, life sciences and pharmaceuticals, the Clinical Trials Specialist marks a natural next step in the growth of the university’s apprenticeship portfolio. Clinical Trials Specialist will draw on existing expertise across Project Management, Data Science and Bioscience.

Funding from the Office for Students has made development of this new programme possible. With just 13 starts in 2021-22, it was identified as a priority standard for development, to ensure employer needs were being suitably met*. NU London is using an accelerated development and launch process, meaning the inaugural class is expected in just 6 months time – September 2024.

During this launch process, NU London staff will be busy consulting with employers on curriculum content and learning materials, as well as raising awareness among potential applicants, ensuring a strong and diverse talent pipeline for the apprenticeship.

One of the next key steps in the programme’s development will be a virtual employer roundtable, taking place Tuesday 16th April. Employers with interests in Clinical Trials are welcome to join in this session and can register by emailing partnerships@nulondon.ac.uk. Alternatively, to find out more and inform the process, you can book a 1:1 consultation here.

The launch of the Clinical Trials Specialist is part of a wider programme of activity funded by the Office for Students, which will also see a new work experience initiative launched, to increase social mobility in degree apprenticeships, and target increased starts in other priority apprenticeships: Data Scientist and Laboratory Scientist.
