Responsibility for Annual Monitoring

1. The Doctoral School (‘the DS’) is responsible for:
   1. The annual monitoring of programmes and determining actions to be taken as a consequence;
   2. Reporting on the annual monitoring of research programmes to the PhD Programme Management Board, University of Kent and Northeastern University London (‘the PhD PMB’).
2. This section of the Northeastern University London (‘the University’) Academic Quality Framework Chapter 17: Research Programmes of Study (AQF17, Part E) sets out detailed requirements in relation to such annual monitoring.

Annual Monitoring Reports

3. The PhD PMB should consider, normally at the start of the calendar year, an Annual PhD Programme Report on the Research Programmes of Study at the University. Should the report be considered unsatisfactory it should be referred back to the DS for revision. The report should normally be prepared by the Director of the Doctoral School at the University and cover all the areas as set out in the Annual PhD Programme Report.
4. Following consideration of the report by the PhD PMB, the following should be added to the report, normally by the PhD PMB secretary:
   1. Any recommendations for consideration by the Doctoral School.
5. The Director of the Doctoral School should ensure that, if available, both recommendations for improvement and positive feedback on aspects of good practice (received from either students or External Examiners) are highlighted in the reports.

University of Kent Graduate and Researcher College Board

6. Following approval of the report by the PhD PMB, the report should be submitted to the University of Kent Graduate and Researcher College Board and Academic Board for consideration.
