Quality Assurance and Enhancement Strategy

Context
- In February 2020, Northeastern University London (the University) was granted Taught Degree Awarding Powers by Her Majesty’s Privy Council. This enables the University to be innovative and creative with the development of new programmes.
- In March 2020, the University joined the Register of Approved Training Providers to deliver and award degree apprenticeships, broadening the diversity of students entering higher education.
- In June 2022, the University was granted University Title by the Office for Students (OfS).
Aims
- The University will strive to develop and increase its academic standards, quality assurance and enhancement processes and activities.
- The University will continue to monitor the effectiveness of the University’s academic governance structures and further develop its autonomous capability and competence to provide quality assurance in line with the national expectations for higher education.
- The University will proactively monitor compliance with ongoing conditions and actively engage with consultations and/or revisions to ongoing conditions of registration.
Objectives
- To monitor and regularly review the academic governance structures and committees of the University.
- To ensure that the academic standards meet university, national and Professional, Statutory and Regulatory Body (PSRB) expectations for the management and assurance of quality in higher education.
- To provide effective mechanisms for student engagement in quality assurance and enhancement activities.
- To monitor and enhance students’ experience.
- To monitor and utilise current developments and good practice in quality assurance and enhancement from the sector.
- To enhance and ensure the development of first-class academic processes, programmes, quality assurance, and facilities establishing the University as one of the leading Higher Education Providers in the UK.
