Find the right apprenticeship for you
Leveraging our renowned experiential education, our higher and degree apprenticeships combine higher education with practical work experience. Students don’t pay any costs to enrol in our programmes, which are designed for residents of the U.K. or Ireland who are looking to upskill or reskill in their careers, or for those who’ve recently finished secondary school.
Qualifications you’ll need
To do a degree apprenticeship you will usually need to have finished your A Levels (or equivalent, like Level 3 BTEC or Level 3 apprenticeship) and meet other eligibility criteria, such as having resided in the U.K. for at least three years before the start of your apprenticeship and having the right to work in the U.K.
Available apprenticeships
Because degree apprenticeships combine a job with training, you’ll need to be hired by an employer. Each employer can set their own entry criteria, with their own process, which means you might end up needing to make several applications to different employers.
The application
process
Step 1 | Decide which degree apprenticeship standard you would like to study.
You can find a full list of degree apprenticeship standards on the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education website.
Step 2 | Search for open roles with an employer for that degree apprenticeship.
Degree apprenticeship opportunities are listed in various places:
- Gov.UK; where the majority of apprenticeship vacancies are advertised. You can create a free account to search and apply for jobs.
- Employer websites; some employers advertise apprenticeship vacancies on their own websites and provide application instructions.
- Training providers; employers will sometimes ask training providers to help manage the apprenticeship application process and you may be redirected to their website. For example, we list current vacancies with our employer partners.
- Recruitment sites; Commonly used platforms where employers advertise apprenticeship programmes include:
Step 3 | Apply for vacancies you are interested in.
Application processes for different positions can vary but typically you will need to:
- Provide a CV and cover letter.
- Answer employer specific application questions (may involve online testing or answering. questions by video)
Complete a follow-up online or in-person interview at an assessment centre.
Funding for apprenticeships
Students don’t pay for degree apprenticeship programmes in the U.K. Employers have several options available to them.
