Co-op benefits for employers

Informed by over 120 years of working in partnership, co-op placements offer exceptional benefits to employers.

Co-op placements are an ideal duration (usually 4-6 months) to give students enough time to have a genuine impact in their role, whether that is completing several project sprints, having enough time to bond with their team, backfilling your existing staff to help with an emerging challenge or seeing through an implementation – our students will be able to add value back to your organisation.

Co-ops are flexible and do not require an ongoing commitment. You can hire at multiple points throughout the year, for different durations and placements need not be full time. Furthermore, whilst there is the option to have rolling placements you can pause and restart your engagement with the programme at any time.

By hiring a student whilst they are still studying you have an early opportunity to engage with an exceptional talent pool. In 2022, over half of the students in Northeastern University’s global network received a job offer from a co-op employer; this speaks volumes about how much employers value co-op students and it is clear this route offers a genuine pipeline for future full-time talent.

By tailoring co-op placements to your organisational needs and nurturing young talent, your institution is laying the foundation for those who will guide the work in years to come. Co-op partners gain cost-effectiveness, support and the opportunity to engage with aspiring talents in your field.

As well as gaining access to great talent, you will also become a member of our global community. This includes access to a range of specialist events, opportunities to partner with our academic specialists and our wider workforce development solutions – plus much more!
