Service overview
The Residence Life team provides comprehensive support to students living in our partnered halls of residence
The Residence Life team has around 25+ full-time members of staff living on-site with students across all partnered Halls of Residence. Our friendly team is responsible for running events, community building and supporting students during their time in London. Previous events have included building-wide mixers, football tournaments, painting classes, movie nights, and more! Our staff is as globally minded as our students, from both London and as far afield as New Zealand. The majority have experienced what it is like to live and study abroad so they are excellently placed to help students adjust to living and studying in London.
All Residence Life staff are certified first aid trained, with many being certified mental health first aid trained as well. Our staff-to-student ratio is sector-leading with an average of 1:35. Each student is assigned to a Residence Life Coordinator (RLC) who is a full-time member of staff responsible for their support and well-being. RLCs host regular group events and conduct monthly one-to-ones, or ‘Husky Chats’, so they really get to know students as individuals during their time in London.
What is a Husky Chat?
A Husky Chat is what we call the monthly catch-ups that each RLC has with their students. These are one-to-one meetings where students can ask any questions they may have about their studies, accommodation and life in London, and referrals can also be made to alternative departments for additional support, if necessary.
Security and Residence Life Emergency Line
The Residence Life team runs a 24/7 call-line which runs every day of the year. The line is always open for students living in our residence halls to contact a member of the team who can provide assistance and support in an emergency situation. The emergency number is provided to students during their orientation.
In addition to this, every residence hall has 24/7 on-site security.
