We welcome applications from intellectually curious, independent thinkers who will flourish studying our academically challenging and broader liberal arts-inspired curriculum. Our typical offer for undergraduate study is AAB at A Level, 35 points or 6,6,5 in HL subjects in the IB Diploma, or the equivalent. Please note that A Level General Studies, Critical Thinking, Thinking Skills and Global Perspectives are not accepted by the University as one of your A Levels. Students studying the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) alongside three A Levels may be eligible for an alternative offer. For the IB, the overall score of 35 points includes TOK and the Extended Essay, and students achieving our alternative offer of 6,6,5 in HL subjects must also achieve an overall pass in the IB Diploma for entry to our programmes.

 

We welcome and will consider applications from students who have achieved or are predicted up to two grades lower than our typical offer. An Admissions adviser will review the application and will decide if they would like to invite the applicant for an interview.

 

When we review an application we also take into consideration a number of socio-economic factors, school performance data and other pieces of information for UK applicants. This means, if a candidate meets certain eligibility criteria, we may make an offer which is lower than our typical entry requirements. This is called contextualised admissions. All students must be at least 18 years old on 31st December in their year of enrolment.

English language requirements for undergraduate and postgraduate study

If English is not your native language, you will need to demonstrate proficiency in English in order to study at the University.

    We accept the Reifeprüfung or Matura, with four subjects at grades 1, 1, 2, 2.  You will need to achieve 2 (gut) in English to meet our English language requirements. In addition, we will be looking for evidence of high grades (1/sehr gut or 2/gut) in individual elective subjects relevant to the chosen degree course.

    Please note, a subject taken at both spoken and written level will only be counted once with the written exam grade taking precedence.

    Our typical offer for applicants who are studying the International Baccalaureate Diploma is an overall score of 35 points or alternatively 6, 6, 5 in subjects taken at Higher Level (with an overall pass). The overall score of 35 points includes the TOK and Extended Essay.

    Data Science

    For our Data Science degrees, students will also need to demonstrate a sufficient command of Mathematics. This could be evidenced by one of the following:

    • Mathematics in the IB Diploma Middle Years Programme with grade 3
    • Mathematics GCSE with grade 4 or C
    Undergraduate: T Levels

    High School Diploma with a GPA of 3.3 overall (unweighted, out of 4.0), achieving As and Bs in an academically challenging college preparatory environment plus one form of standardised testing (choose one of the following):

    • SAT: SAT with a minimum of 620 in Mathematics and a minimum of 650 in Evidence-based Reading & Writing. We will consider the highest Evidence-Based Reading & Writing and highest Mathematics section score from any given test date. We do not require the optional essay. We will assess the SAT total score out of 1600.
    • ACT: ACT with a composite score of 27+. We will consider the highest scores submitted for each section across multiple testing dates. We do not require the optional writing element.
    • AP: 3 Advanced Placement exams with grades 4 or 5
    • SAT Subject tests: 3 SAT Subject tests at 650+
    • IB: 3 International Baccalaureate Higher Level exams with 6, 6, 5

    For the AP, SAT Subject Tests and IB HL exams we will particularly look at subjects relevant to your chosen degree course.
